Truffle Hunting, Barolo and Barbaresco in the stunning Piedmont during the Alba Truffle Festival. Enjoy the finest Piemontese wines, crisp refreshing whites and big bold reds, and experience truffle hunting in the forest with your local ‘Trifalao” Marco and his dog. We are confident that you will agree this is the best Piemonte wine tour around! It may be November, but this is peak season in this beautiful part of Italy! Fabulous Amelia Singer, from The Wine Show and Amelia’s Wine, is our very special guest on this tour. Amelia has previously travelled with us on a wine tour to Tuscany in June – as well as being very knowledgeable about wine, she is great fun too!
This wonderful Autumn Piemonte wine tour takes place during the Alba White Truffle season, the most popular time for travel to Piedmont for foodies and wine-lovers alike. In addition to visiting the finest wineries for fine Barolo & Barbaresco, Arneis & Gavi tastings, there will also be an option for you to take part in a truffle hunt, if you are inclined to do so! This is a lot of fun and we do recommend it. We love to watch the interaction between the Truffle Hunter (the “Trifalao”) and his dog, the beautiful relationship between them. Furthermore, we think that truffle hunting followed by lunch with the truffles from the hunt is the finishing touch that makes this the best Piemonte wine tour experience imaginable.
Barolo and Barbaresco are often refferred to as the Kind and Queen of Italian Wine. We trust that you will understand why after the excellent winery visits we have organised for you on this tour, a combination of large and sma
The Italian Bank of Wine is situated in the small village of Pollenzo , housed in the International University of Gastronomic Science. A visit there is also included in the trip with a slow-food lunch in the renowned restaurant of the University. The region abounds with hazelnuts groves (home of Nutella™) and peach orchards, as well as vineyards. We are sure that you will enjoy the stunning autumn scenery as much as the wine and truffles! The region is often referred to in English as the Piedmont.
This region is one of the friendliest in Italy, and is so beautiful at this time of year. We recommend flights to Turin, Milan or Nice. Away With Wine is ATOL-certified and can therefore package your flight bookings with your Piemonte wine tour – contact us by email, phone, or the contact link above for further details.
The flights we recommend from the UK with this tour are British Airways 2578 London Gatwick to Turin on Wednesday 15th at 15.35, return BA2579 Sunday 19th Turin to Gatwick 19.20, transfers included with packaged flights.
From the UK, there are many options for low-cost flight to Milan, but Turin is more limited, although more convenient for the Piedmont. From Ireland, Aer Lingus flies to Milan, currently at excellent prices. Please request on your booking form if you would like to extend your trip and stay for some extra nights either here or elsewhere in the region, maybe in Milan or Turin, for example. We would be happy to advise and to book accommodation for you.
If you prefer to make your own travel arrangements, note that we will be providing airport transfers from and to Turin, meeting the late afternoon arrival from London Gatwick, and arriving in good time for the departure of the evening flight to London Gatwick, times to be confirmed.
